February Socks Complete
I have finished my first pair of socks for the SAM3 KAL. It's the second pair of work socks for hubby, made with the same stuff as the first pair, same pattern, just ten rows shorter in the leg length and a different stripe pattern. I started a third pair, too. I don't know if I'll have enough yarn to make a fourth pair or not. It could be cutting it really close. I probably won't have time anyways. He may be leaving for Whitehorse on Monday, Tuesday at the latest.
The boss lady at work placed my sock yarn order the other day. Our folder is over a year old, though, and two of the yarns I had down are now discontinued. She ordered three of the Fortissima Socka's I had marked down, plus she ordered some Austerman Step. I have a skein of it in the stash, and it's very soft. She only ordered two colors, I think, #03 and maybe #01. I would have liked her to order at least six colors, but I'm sure she wants to see if it will sell first. The wholesaler told her they can't keep it in stock. It will sell for $17.95/skein.
The kids lucked out and had a storm day yesterday, but it didn't really storm. It was icy first thing in the morning and was supposed to be really nasty all day, but we didn't get any of the snow the forecast called for, and there wasn't much freezing rain either, just rain. The Oldest One had no school Friday anyways because his school was having an inservice. Now he'll have two long weekends in a row because they sent a notice home saying the inservice would be the 9th if school was cancelled.
The new Magknits is up. I like these, a pattern by fellow SAMer, Anni. I will have to pick up some solid or mostly solid yarn to make a pair. One thing I really like is that they are toe-up, and she has instructions for short row heels or heel flap. I have yet to master short row heels, but I have started a pair toe-up before. (Wyverns, only to be ripped and the yarn reborn into Broadripple when I got POed at the heel.)
Anyhoo, must go clean up from supper.
Happy knitting!
Don't ask me why it won't put an empty line between my paragraphs. I typed it that way, but this is what I get.

NIce looking socks -- the blue looks really nice with the grey!
I am looking forward to seeing the new sock yarns your boss lady ordered -- I looked up the Austerman -- NICE!! the gras, whiskey and melba aare my favorites (and I bet it will feel nice with the aloe in it!) I am very excited! thanks for the update!
GREAT SOCKS!! They look warm and toasty. It is -20 below here today!! My hubby needs some of these!
Ahhh...those look like awesome socks for working! They certainly will be warm. I love how they turned out, the colors are great. Oooooo...I love that Austerman!!
I'm really liking those socks. That grey is very versatile -- it looks great in both pairs!
Great socks! Can't wait to see the 3rd pair. My socks have been sorely neglected of late, with the afghans and now the bed doll dress. But I did get to work on it a little while we were waiting for the movie to start yesterday. And I also looked up the Austerman, which one of my LYS's just started selling. I love #'s 3, 11 and & 26. I'll have to see if I can get them to order it for me.
Winter has finally arrived here. Yesterday the temps were at record lows, and the winds were really bad. But it was one of those days that it was just too cold to snow.
Another finished pair - well done! I have a ball of STEP in my stash, too, and you're right, it's so soft! I can hardly wait to get started knitting with it. :0)
You're the queen of the sock knitters, that's for sure! I can't believe how quick you were with knitting these up too, and they look so great and warm and yummy! Great job!
I also like the new ones in MagKnits, though I have the feeling that I've seen this particular pattern somewhere else before - but I can't for the life of me remember where that was, I think in one of the German free pattern pages or sock lists. Will have to check - but they're great nonetheless and high up on my "Must Knit" list too!
Hubby will be pleased with his new socks I am sure.
Can't wait to see your next pair. I have never seen anyone knit so many socks!!
Your socks look so snug and warm... I wish I had some on my feet right now.
Hi,
Been trying to email you (or anyone) at work, and it keeps bouncing back to me. Could you send me an email from there, please? :) I have a printing job that I need an estimate on. boobearns@ss.eastlink.ca Thanks!
Your socks look great. I knit a friend a pair of socks with the Austerman for Christmas, yesterday she said she'd like more, so I told her I knew where we could get the yarn. She hopes to get a Friday off sometime, and we'll head down.
