Plunking Along
Still plunking along trying to get Christmas knits finished. I've succeeded in some areas. Still have a pair of slippers to finish, make two more pairs, and make three pairs of socks. It's work socks and a pair of kid's socks, so they will knit fast. The slippers are sort of irritating me, but they're going along a little better now. I'm just not much at working with more than one color at a time. We have a countdown on our receipts at the store, and I just put new ribbons in both cash registers, so I get to see, "Only 12 days left til Christmas!"........
We sort of have confused weather here today. It was snowing a little bit ago, now there are sunny breaks. This afternoon we should get rain (being along the coast) but tonight we are to get 5-10 cm of snow, which is due to end tomorrow morning sometime. That's the radio version. The government website version for the coast is pretty much just rain. Hope it's just rain. Darren has his school Christmas concert tonight at 6pm.
Boy, I can really taste the town water in my Tim Horton's today!
Anyhoo, I have vowed not to get any more yarn until I finish up some of the projects I have on the go. (Unless, of course, I just have to have it, or it's a really good sale.) I have yarn to make both boys each a sweater and finish up some socks for me. Ma and Pa gave me some money for Christmas. I did send for this at LL Bean in camel, which I've wanted for ages: http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&categoryId=34859&sc1=Search&feat=sr I also have two or three books and two kinds of sock yarn picked out at Knitpicks, but I won't get that til after Christmas. I have this thing about spending the money on others, then I have to wait til January to get my stuff. Everything seems to come due at Christmas, plus Travis is on a 3-week cheque (which sucks) and gets paid a few days before Christmas, then no more til like January 10. Also in the meantime, Darren's birthday is January 7, and Logan's is January 14, so there's a small birthday party for two to plan. Probably bowling again this year. Gifts, cake, treat bags, pay the bowling alley.... And of course mid-January is power bill and end of January is water bill. How'd I get to this talking about my yarn stash? My stash is nowhere near the size of most people's -- in fact, it's quite small. But I have access to a store full of yarn whenever I need it!!!
Must go make some lunch. The sun is shining pretty good now. Hope to finish up the slipper this afternoon. Will post a pic. I finally got a memory card for my camera, so now I can take more than 17 pictures at least!
Happy knitting!
