Final FO of 2010

This is probably my final FO of 2010, Dad's birthday socks. I didn't really knit steadily on these. I started them back on December 8 and finished them just in time for his birthday on the 30th. The yarn is Scheepjeswol Invicta, vanilla socks on 2.25mm needles and 68sts, heel over 34sts, toe to 24sts. I like the yarn, it's quite soft to begin with and gets really nice once it's washed, but it's so darned fine that it seems like it takes forever to knit. The close up of the toe is the best representation of the true color. Ravelry details here.

And ever since Christmas people on Facebook must think I'm a nut, cuz I kept going on about my new funky whistling teapot. We used to have a big water cooler that had a hot water tap, but the resevoir got a crack in it, so it started leaking all over the floor. We got rid of it, never replaced it yet, so I used to use the coffee maker to heat hot water if I needed some. Then I was doing dishes one day, went to put a bowl back in the cupboard, dropped it (carpal tunnel, I drop everything), and of course it smashed the coffee pot in the process. Didn't break the bowl, of course. I haven't replaced the coffee maker yet either (it's just as cheap, it seems, to get a whole new coffee maker). So I've been boiling water in a pot on the stove and using a ladle to scoop it out. This is much better, but the dogs sure don't like it. Poor Jewel looks like she's going to twist her head off once it starts whistling, it sure is loud. It's big, it holds a lot of water.
So tonight for the first time ever we are leaving town for New Year's Eve, sans children. We have only ever gone to the local fire hall dance, a house party, or stayed at home for New Year's Eve. This year we are going to the city with another couple to Casino Nova Scotia to see The Trews. We saw them when they opened for KISS, they're really good. I would love to take the boys to see them, they love them, but you have to be at least 19 to get in. We got a package deal that included a hotel room here, two concert tickets, free parking at the hotel and at the casino, $10 each meal voucher for either the buffet or the restaurant at the casino, $5 each for the slot machines, and $10 each for the table games. All of that for just under $200 including tax. That's not bad since the tickets alone are $48.50 each. This package you got 2-for-1 tickets. We are going to the early show at 7, and afterwards down around the corner from our hotel there is a big free outdoor concert and fireworks, so we'll hit that up, too, if it isn't too cold.

I'll leave you with a couple of shots of Pumba. Turn your back for 30 seconds and leave a load of clean laundry, and he thinks you got him a nice, warm bed, lol.

Even after I folded everything he still thought it was a good place to take a bath!

Have fun tonight, be safe, don't drink and drive, and all that crap.
Happy knitting and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!! Love the new kettle :) Never buy a new coffee pot, it's ALWAYS better to get the whole shebang brand new!

When I moved out on my own - the first thing I bought was a whistling kettle. My grandma bought me an electric one for xmas a few years back, but Mom and I use it for heating water for dye. When I make a tea I want a whistle!
Hope the concert was good. I love the Trews!
