So the Tuesday we were in Cuba we went on the Jeep tour. I snapped these two pictures on our drive to pick up other people and to get to the Jeeps. The first place is
The Beatles Bar.
This next one seems to be the topic of debate -
Al Capone's house,
The Casa de Al Restaurant. The debate is whether or not Capone acutally owned this house or not. He frequented Cuba back in the 20s and 30s, maybe he owned this place, maybe he just stayed here when he was in the area. Maybe not. Who knows when it comes to Al Capone. Pretty cool looking place and supposedly a really good restaurant.
Then we were off on the tour, through the country, dirt roads, paved roads, dirt roads again, through the city of
Matanzas...
Goats!! :)
The locals know when the Jeeps are coming through. Kids and adults alike stand on the side of the road looking for the tourist to give them stuff.
We stopped at a farmhouse and got to see inside their house and have some coconut and honey, bananas, pineapple, and sugar cane.
Even in the city you have to stop for livestock of all kinds, lol.
A lookoff spot we stopped at.
Then we went for buffet lunch at this restaurant. The food was pretty good, better than the resort.
At the end we saw a native dance.
From there it was backtracking a bit to get back to the starting point to an open top bus that took us all back to the various resorts from which we came. It was a great time, well worth it, and it takes most of the day. We were picked up before 9am and got back around suppertime.
Happy knitting!
