Footies & Dishcloths

Edit: One of my favorite Christmas songs is Fairytale of New York. For the fun of it I looked up Kristy McColl, the female singer of the song. I didn't realize that she was the first one to sing They Don't Know. (I always knew that Tracey Ullman had redone it. She's a knitter, too, btw.) Pop on over here and read about her tragic death in 2000. What a shame.

We had a pot luck at the church last Friday night. There is always so much great food. Afterwards Santa came and handed out gifts and treat bags. The Littlest One pipes up to me that, "He's not the real Santa. His beard has straps." Then I went into the whole Santa-is-busy-and-has-lots-of-helpers-this-time-of-year-thing.

Mine got fancy spin tops and coloring/activity books. Must have left the coloring books there cuz I haven't seen them since.

The kids had decorated gingerbread men the night before to hand out to the adults to show that Christmas is about giving as well as receiving.
I got to use my fancy dish that I got when we got married. I think it's the second time maybe that I used it. It's heavy, and I'm always scared it'll get broken. We don't do much fancy of anything, so it doesn't get many chances to come out of the box in the cupboard anyways. I had it filled with cranberry orange loaf. I also made home-made cranberry sauce for the first time. I liked it, and it must have been good since there was none left after the meal.
I finished the footies for a friend who wanted another pair to give to one of her daughter-in-laws. She's gotten another pair from me already. These ones were started December 16 and finished the 17th. The white is Kroy whitecap, and the stripey is a breed of Regia.

I also finished ten dishcloths for the kids teachers and classroom helpers. The white ones are small arrow cloths, the others are just plain old. I have enough of the variagated left to do one for Hub's grandmother to go with her gift. I started these on December 11 and finished them on the 19th. Bernat Handicrafter cotton.

All of my shopping is done for the kids. I finished wrapping this morning while they were at school for the last day before Christmas break. I still need to grab a few small things, but not too many. Got a couple of things I'd like to knit yet. Currently I'm working on a couple of Marsan Watchcaps and Pa's socks.

I'll leave you with the pups sharing Miney-Bone with Peanut Bubber.

Happy knitting!

I love footie socks, they're so fast, and comfy to wear, especially once it's warmer! You've been very busy - Happy Christmas to you and all yours! :0)

I just love to watch your children and your dogs!! and I get inspired by your knitting. Perhaps in 2009 I will actually knit the things I want to. Enjoy your family this Holiday Season.
