Mock My Socks Off

I finished up a pair of socks for a friend of mine.  They are Mock My Socks Off knit with Aslan Trends Santa Fe in Alaska blues.  Started December 30, finished February 13, knit on 2.25mm needles, and cast on 70sts instead of 80sts.  Ravelry details here.

And in non-knitting news, I am a very happy camper!  I didn't mention it before cuz I wanted to wait til it had officially happened, but my very BFF in the whole wide world has moved back to town!  We've been best friends since the first day we met in grade two, so round about 34 years.  She moved first to Ontario, then to Alberta about 16-17 years ago.  She's lived in Alberta most of the time, she wasn't in Ontario very long.  But the week before last she and her three kids arrived, they are all enrolled in school, she's now in an apartment for the next 2-3 months til she can buy a house. AND next Friday on my birthday she officially becomes the new owner of the local bowling alley/bar.  That place needs a major overhaul, and I think it's going to be awesome when she and her boyfriend are done.  My dogs, on the other hand, aren't as impressed.  She has a 6 month old leopard catahoula who just wants to play, play, play with them, but they aren't enthused.  They chase the poor fella all around the house, but he thinks it's all fun.  Actually, he pretty much ignores them and their big mouths, but he's scared of the cat! lol  (And Pumba could care less, he totally ignores him.)  Once they're outside they are fine, unless he tries to play with them, they can be kind of snippy with him. But one thing the like when they see him -- it usually means they are going for a walk!  They'll get used to him.  I'm looking forward to having the back yard fenced in this summer so they can run loose (they run away if they aren't tied or leashed), I think they'll play pretty good with him outside and unleashed.

Happy knitting!

Aftermath

So Friday night/Saturday we had a blizzard blow through.  It dumped the most amount of snow we've had at one time in something like 5 years.  I don't remember having this much snow since Maggie was a baby.  I had to clean the front steps off and an area for the dogs.  It was so deep Saturday morning where the wind blew the snow against the door Jewel barely got out, lol.  They love snow, but not that much!

I had gone out yesterday afternoon and snowblowed both driveways.  Nice to be able to get out if you have to in an emergency.  Today it had to be done again.

Had to make sure I shovelled out the green bin - it's garbage week!

I don't foresee it hanging around a long, long time.  It's supposed to be above freezing all week, and the roads are all melted off well.  Luckily we didn't lose any power, we had crazy wind, but there were a lot of people who did lose power.

Happy knitting!
