Start of a Long Weekend

Tomorrow is Canada Day, therefore a paid holiday (yes!). I hope the weather is okay for it. We have a celebration in town called Privateer Days. It actually started today, but tomorrow and Saturday are the biggest days. We take the boys to the rides on Friday night, then watch the fireworks and go home. Saturday morning is the street parade. Right now the weatherperson is calling for periods of rain. It absolutely poured this morning, but now it's just cloudy.

I started Trellis last night. I am not using the same yarn as in the pattern, but it's the same tension. Looks like it may be a bit bigger, but I'm continuing on anyways. It isn't really important if it's off a bit in size. I will measure when I get the back it finished and compare it to the pattern measurements. First time I've followed a cabled pattern that is a diagram instead of having the instructions written out. At first I thought it was going to be hard, but I like it. It's not bad at all.

Will try to post some pictures this weekend.

Finally a Finished Project

I finally finished the baby set I was working on, and it is listed on eBay. I have been working on my socks and am just turning the heel on the first one. I think I will work on that tonight. I have to work on Logan's sweater as well as this: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTtrellis.html I picked up some aran yarn today at the store for that. (I sold the pink cabled cardigan and hat today. Good reason to buy more yarn! I do believe it's going to South Africa.)

It was quite hot and muggy today. Logan and I went to for a walk tonight. Daddy went to play ball and took Darren with him. There is a playground at that field, and one of the other guys on the team was taking his daughter as well. There's a nice breeze coming in the kitchen right now. The windows are opened wide, and all three cats are flaked out in the windows enjoying it.

Think I will go look over the Trellis pattern, then get back to work on my sock. Will try to get a picture of it posted in the next couple of days.

Hot One

Today is off to a really hot start - literally. It's supposed to get up to 34 Celsius today. Glad I am working til 3. At least I'm in air conditioning. Our house gets really hot. I closed all the blinds and curtains to try to keep some heat out, and all the ceiling fans are on. But I'm sure by this afternoon it will read about 28 on our thermostat. All three cats had a window when I left for work this morning. They do go in the basement a lot. It's cool down there, but our dehumidifier isn't working, so it's musty and damp. I think we'll take it to the repair shop today and get a quote on fixing it. A new one is $180. This one was $200 about 3 years ago.

Still have to do the finishing touches on the baby set. I have that with me and may try to put the buttons on and sew the booties up in a little bit. I also started my socks last night. I only did like 4 or 5 rows, but at least they're started. I have some pictures to upload off my camera, too. Will try to do that this weekend.

Happy knitting!

Slow Progress

It's slow progress on that baby set. Even though it's almost done and won't take much to finish, I won't get it done tonight. I have to sew the buttons on, and today I saw that I never sewed the booties up, so that still has to be done. I was hoping to get it listed on eBay today. Hopefully on the weekend. It was so nice out tonight that the boys and I went outside this evening. They played in the yard, I worked a little on the set, then we went for a walk to town. I think I have enough of the yarn left to do a bonnet and booties set to take to the store to sell. Then I want to make Logan's sweater (which I've only ever done two rows on it), do my socks (which I've had the yarn for ages to do), and finish the adult sweater I started eons ago for the store (only the front is done on that). Plus I really want to use up the baby yarn in my stash. So many projects, so little time.... Darren has a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, which is about a 40 minute drive, so I'll take something basic to work on, maybe Logan's sweater or a dishcloth. (Travis will be driving so I can knit!)

Anyways, almost bedtime.

Bad Break

This is just a quickie little sad, depressing post. My phone rang this morning at 5:30, so I knew it was something bad. Travis had an accident about 10 miles outside of Halifax this morning. A lady driving a Jeep Liberty came across the yellow line and hit his truck. I think she fell asleep - when she hit his truck she didn't jerk the wheel or anything and basically went down the side of his truck and under the trailer. She is still alive. They had to cut the top off of her SUV to get her out. I will post more when I know more. He is badly shaken, but there was nothing he could do. The police measured and found she was 37" over on his side of the road, so nothing was his fault. Luckily he had a co-worker in with him (who he was taking to the city to get his truck which just had repairs) who he is really close with, because of course he has never had anything like this happen before, so he is a mess.

Anyways, must get going. Happy knitting.

Update: The lady has passed away.

The cable cardigan and hat set I made to sell at the store. This one is size 12 months. We put bubble wrap over the hanger so it wouldn't leave big marks in the sleeves. One thing we have to work on is display area for finished items. Posted by Hello

Finally Some Knit News

I haven't really been posting much lately in regards to knitting. I did finish a cabled cardigan and hat set. I forgot to bring my camera with me, so I don't have a picture. If I can remember I will bring my camera to work tomorrow and snap one of it. (I'm selling it at the store.) I actually made the pompom and sewed the hat up at work this morning.

I think the next thing on my knitting list is to finish a newborn baby set I had started awhile back. I have everything done (bonnet, booties, sleeves) except for the body of the jacket. That is going to go on eBay, I believe. I haven't listed anything on there in ages.

The weather sure has been crappy here lately. I had to give in and turn my furnace back on the other day. It's been raining and cold, only getting up to about 10 Celsius days. I guess we are going to see some sun this weekend, and temperatures are to be in the low 20s. I hope we soon see some summer weather.

Happy Knitting!

This is the "big purchase" we made that has been keeping me busy most evenings last week. It's a 26' Trail Cruiser. Before getting this our camping consisted of a 7x7 tent with king sized air mattress. Quite a little difference, wouldn't you agree? I have no plans on putting it anywhere "seasonal" -- I like to travel! (Even though I hate the fuel bill, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!) Posted by Hello

The best part - my own bathroom!!! No more traipsing off in the pitch black to brush my teeth and wash my face before bedtime! Also has a shower, and to the left is a sink and medicine cabinet. The boys each had a bath last night. I have the garbage can and a bag of diapers in there right now.  Posted by Hello

Bunk beds for the boys. Our nephew slept up top. We put both boys in the bottom one for now, til they are old enough not to roll out! See the grate at the bottom? Camper has a furnace so we can go into September/October. Posted by Hello

Dinette folds down for an extra bed if needed. TV hole overhead. Good sized fridge and freezer with a small storage space underneath (got the toaster there for now). Posted by Hello

Stainless steel microwave, propane stove and oven, sink, cd player/radio. Posted by Hello

Our bed (pardon the mess - I was in the process of cleaning up.) Posted by Hello

Scarey T-Rex Darren. Posted by Hello

Peek-a-Boo! This thing is almost as tall as he is! Posted by Hello

Nanny and Grampy bought the boys a new toy. It "eats" uo to five cars, then if a car hits it the right way his mouth flies open, and they all fall out. Logan got quite upset and cried at first because the T-Rex "ate miney cars". Posted by Hello

Sum, Sum, Summertime!

After all that rain we finally got sunshine and hot weather! My knitting has been suffering, but then again it usually does this time of year. Too nice to stay inside. I have been taking the boys to the park a lot. Sometimes I take something easy to work on, but Logan is too small for me to just let him go it on his own. I've been doing some knitting in the evening, but we made a large and pretty major purchase last Saturday that I have been getting ready for evenings after work. (I'm not gonna tell you what it is - we get it tomorrow, and I'll post some pictures of it on Sunday! suspense!)

I am knitting a 12 month size hat and jacket set for the store. The back and both fronts are done as well as one sleeve. I should get the other sleeve done tonight. Then I have to sew the raglans, do the neck and buttonbands, and lastly the hat. It's really cute. I also want to start a sweater for Logan. I picked the yarn up a couple of weeks ago but haven't gotten around to starting it yet. Maybe this weekend. Would like to get some of my baby sets done and listed on eBay as well.....

Happy Knitting!

BLUE SKY!!! I thought I'd never see you again!!! The sun finally came out last night around suppertime. It was in the low 20s today, so I got for a walk and mowed the lawn in the afternoon. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer. Not warm enough for me for shorts yet, but definitely T-shirt weather. At least the rain finally stopped. Posted by Hello

Hayden's sweater (the birthday gift I was working on). Posted by Hello

Made myself a new dishcloth with Bernat Handicrafter. Bright, ain't it? Posted by Hello

Nala investigating yarn samples from the store. I think I will make a small feather and fan scarf with the Pebble and a narrow scarf of some type with the Mosaic. The other kinds are Ci Ci, Be Mine, and Pooch. They are only sample balls and not big enough to do anything but small swatches. Posted by Hello
