The last weekend in May Hubs and I took a weekend trip to Toronto with two other couples. I had
Air Miles that were going to expire then end of this year, so we used those for our plane tickets and hotel. First stop was
Popeye's, a first time for me, Hubs used to get it when he truck drove past Montreal, but there are none this way past Ontario. I loved the cajun chicken burger even though it felt like my mouth was on fire. I think it's worth a yearly trip just for that.
Next stop on Saturday morning was the
Hockey Hall of Fame.
Anyone who knows Hubs know that he HATES the
Canadiens (sorry, Habs fans), and our last name is Roy, and he used to be a goalie. This was his oh-no-I-just-got-drafted-by-the-Habs photo, lol.
The HHOF was a blast, could easily spend the day there, but we were on a time limit. Next stop was
Rogers Centre for the
Blue Jays vs
Red Sox. It wasn't hard to find where to go, follow the sea of Blue Jays jerseys.
The roof was open. It was a beautiful weekend, over 30 Celsius each day and muggy/smoggy. We were lucky that our seats were in the shade.
Two of our party are Jays fans, three of our party are Red Sox fans, and one doesn't like baseball. Can you guess who isn't a baseball fan? I'll give you a hint -- it was the longest 3 hours 37 minutes of my life. Anyhoo, Hubs and the other RS fan was there to see their man, Big Papi,
David Ortiz, who is retiring after this season. That's him on the right in warm up.
My l'il guy got a home run. His last name is Bogarts, I think he's cute, Hubs always points out I'm old enough to be his mother. I restrain myself from slapping him.
Big Papi time.
This pitcher freaks me out cuz he does this every time he goes to throw a pitch.
It was the bottom of the 9th, the Red Sox were 9, the Jays were 8. Apparently things got very exciting, everyone was standing up. I didn't. Then the Jays tied it. I was like F*CK, extra innings. But alas, they scored again and ended up winning the game, no extra innings, thank gawd. The RS fans in our troop were happy, Papi had scored a home run, so they didn't care who won.
And finally it was the moment that I had been waiting for, the
Ripley's Aquarium, which is right next door. Love, love, loved it.
Nemos and Doreys!!
Jellies are cool.
So that was the day, all of it fit into Saturday, and our plane for home left at 1pm Sunday. Next time it would be cool to have one extra day, a long weekend, instead of getting there Friday night and leave Sunday afternoon. And no ball game, lol. Or they can all go to the game, I'll hang out at the aquarium.
Happy knitting!
