Catch Up

Time for another catch up post.  Not too much to show, really.  I finished the baby blanket for Hubs' cousin who had a little girl on August 17.  They didn't find out what they were having, so I went with a neutral color and pattern.  This is Garter Rib Baby Blanket knit on 4.5mm needles and using 3.5 skeins of Patons Décor in aran.  Started August 1, finished September 10.  Details here.

I had this little bib in the closet for two-and-a-half years now.  I knit it way back when the store was still open.  I had made it for display to show that there was more to cotton than dishcloths.  Finally someone had a girl so I could gift it.  All babies of friends and family since the store closed have been boys.

I whipped up one final pair of socks for my charity knitting, too.  Made with leftover Briggs & Little, just a little pair of vanilla socks started September 11, finished the 17th.  Details here.

This is a photo of everything that was in the box I mailed this past Monday.  Ten pairs of kid and baby socks, three adult hats, and a baby hat.

Happy knitting!

School!

Today was the first day of school here.  The Littlest One is in grade 5.  This is the last year for him at his school, next year he starts junior high.

And the Oldest One is in grade 8.  Last year of junior high for him, next year he'll be in high school.  I can't believe school is back in already, summer's pretty much over.  I am dreading the short days, I hate it when it's dark out when I get up and dark at suppertime.  Not looking forward to the cold, either.

I finished up a pair of belated socks for BFF's birthday.  Now I keep forgetting to give them to her!  The pattern is Jeck, the yarn is Mary Maxim Step It Up in playful plum.  Knit on 2.5mm needles, cast on August 15, finished the 31st, details here.  Wasn't a real fan of the yarn, it's a little too fuzzy for my likings.  I've got enough left from these to probably make a pair of ankle socks for other friend, M.  I've also got another skein in shades of blue and one in shades of grey.  I don't foresee buying any more of it.

Happy knitting!
